Discipleship Opportunities

Exchange Ministries offers multiple support group opportunities for overcomers, but we also are able to walk alongside and disciple them. We must remember that when someone decides to leave their LGBT-identity behind to follow Jesus, the process of sanctification begins, and a lifelong commitment to discipleship follows. Discipleship is rooted in the teachings of Jesus, particularly we share the message of the Great Commission, where He commands His followers to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19). This directive highlights the importance of discipleship as a core responsibility for every believer, not merely an optional aspect of Christian life.

Just like the early church, as seen in Acts 2:42, Exchange Ministries is committed to providing an environment of teaching, serving, fellowship and prayer. This kind of community fosters accountability, encouragement, and mutual edification among the overcomers. Discipleship is essential for the health and growth of Exchange. It involves a commitment to an active participation in the mission of Jesus Christ. As overcomers grow in their faith, they are called to disciple others, perpetuating the cycle of spiritual growth and the expansion of God’s Kingdom.

Daniel's Story

Daniel approached us at the Space Coast Pride event and said “as you can see I have transitioned to a female, and I am conflicted.”

Daniel shared that he is tired of the transgender life and ready to surrender his identity over to the Lord Jesus. He heard about the Spirit of God’s powerful work in my life and said that impacted his heart. He said, “what do I have to do?” The powerful Holy Spirit was at work. I let Daniel know to start by walking in his true God-given identity, and no longer call himself Danielle, but present himself as Daniel. I proceeded to say, “God will give him what he needs as he walks in Truth. Please keep Daniel covered in prayer as he connects with a local church tomorrow.”

Eric's Story

Eric approached us at Ormond Beach Unity Pride Event where he said, “I have always felt like I was born in the wrong body, and this led me into a gay identity. “

Eric did say that years ago he had asked Jesus to be his Savior, but then was influenced by other religions, and proceeded to say, “all religions lead to the same god.” Then I shared my testimony of freedom and he had lots of questions about my walk with Jesus.

Eric revealed that he was concerned about his soul. He grew up in a home with an absent dad, and an abusive, alcoholic mom.  Eric asked me to pray for him, that the Spirit of God would soften his heart. At that point I asked if he wanted to rededicate his life to Jesus, and he said, “yes.” I was able to lead him through the prayer of salvation, calling on the Name of the Lord to break any and all strongholds that bound him and his mom. Praise God for His saving power!

Cole's Story

Cole approached us at the Orlando Come Out with Pride Festival. He said, “I identify as gender queer, but I was drawn over to your team for prayer.”

He shared that he was raised up in church, but experienced deep hurt and walked away to never return.

The Spirit of God was working on his heart, and he asked for us to pray for him. We gathered around Cole, laying hands on him, we called on the Mighty Name of Jesus to pull down any strongholds that are binding him. Glory to God!
